Crispy the cat was quite overwhelmed by all the boxes and noise as her family was moving from California to Texas, and when the door was open to carry items out, Crispy went outside and disappeared. When she went missing, her family was heartbroken, and they looked for her in vain. They relocated to Texas with sad hearts, hoping that their beloved cat would be found someday.
While one of the house’s new renters, Jeff Saul, was moving in, the previous family’s little daughter mentioned a missing calico cat to him. When Saul and his roommates heard meows coming from outside, he didn’t think much of it.
“I opened our front door when I heard it and saw her run inside,” Saul told The Dodo. “She dashed into our living room, only to be met with the most perplexed expression. I pity the little girl; she dashed to other rooms just to find emptiness.”
The cat looked so certain that this was her home that it almost seemed as though Saul and his roommates’ house came with a cat.
Crispy had returned home after a period of time away from the commotion, only to discover that her family had already relocated. As she roamed around her house, the poor cat was confused, wondering where all her belongings – and her family — had vanished.
When Saul first spotted Crispy, he believed she was the cat the young girl had mentioned. Crispy was kept company by him and his housemates, who hung around with her and calmed her as she adapted to the changes all around her. When a friend from the previous family came over to pick up some items the family had left behind, Saul mentioned the cat he had found, and the family buddy confirmed Crispy’s identity.
The family friend brought Crispy in to be with her, relieved that she had finally been located, and Saul and his roommates bid their goodbyes to their new friend. Crispy will soon be reunited with her relieved family thanks to a family friend who is preparing to transport her to Texas.
“She said they’re really happy,” Saul explained. “I only hope the young kid is relieved to learn that Crispy is on his way home.”
