Brittany Callan had no intention of adding any more animals to her life three weeks ago. Then she heard meowing from behind her aunt’s garage door.
There was a newborn kitten on the grass. Callan sat the baby animal on a nice blanket in the shade, hoping the mother would come back. However, the kitten was remained alone after many hours. She decided to take the small blind baby home since she knew the little animal wouldn’t make it through the night.
Ruby, Callan’s Doberman pinscher, had recently given birth to puppies, and she hoped that when she saw the defenseless kitten, the dog’s mothering instincts would kick in.
Callan told The Dodo, “We’ve had newborn rabbits and guinea pigs, and she simply kisses them like she’s their mom.” “She was carrying the baby rabbits about in her mouth and concealing them in the sofa as if they were hers; she even tried to feed them when she was younger.”
Ruby and the cat couldn’t have been more unlike, yet when they met, none of that mattered. Ruby accepted the new kitten into her pack right away as Callan handed it out to her.
Callan explained, “She just started washing it and pushed it out of my fingers.” “Then I just opened the kitten’s mouth and placed it on Ruby’s tiniest nipple, and it immediately began feeding. Ruby took a look at it and sat down.”

Ruby is weaning her pups now, but she won’t be apart from her tiny child for more than a few minutes.
Callan explained, “She’s simply fascinated with this kitty.” “She doesn’t want to be outdoors – she’ll whine and scratch at every door until you allow her in, then pick up the kitten and carry it about in her mouth.”
The orphaned kitten is prospering in Rosie’s care, and when she’s old enough, she’ll travel to her forever home with Callan’s cousin.
But for the time being, Ruby is the only mother the kitten requires. It simply goes to show that size doesn’t matter when it comes to family; it’s the love that counts.
